Basic IP and Contracts for Non-IP Professionals

Programme Synopsis

Are you a Non-IP Professional but want to know more about Intellectual Property and Contract Law? Does your work require you to have a basic understanding of Intellectual Property or do you need a refresher on your Intellectual Property knowledge? This half-day course introduces the basic concepts of Intellectual Property (IP) and the different elements of Contract involving IP.

 

The course contains materials which will be useful to any non–IP Professional with no prior knowledge of IP. At the end of the course, participants would be able to appreciate how IP works in a general context.

 

This course is relevant for research administrators, contracts managers, industry developers, business developers, technology transfer and commercialisation professionals, licensing professionals, lawyers, patent agents, technical directors, research managers, researchers and scientists.

 

The course is supported by the Licensing Executive Society (LES) Singapore.

Sharon Chiang is Assistant Director (Compliance and Contracts) and Director (Biobank) in National Cancer Centre of Singapore Pte Ltd.

Sharon has more than 20 years in healthcare and life science industry, specialising in technology transfer, legislative drafting, compliance and cross-border collaborations.

She has experience in negotiation, business planning, repositioning IP, valuing and commercialising healthcare-related technologies, materials and data in private and public sectors.

Deputy Director (Legal)
NTUitive Pte Ltd

Mohan Das is Deputy Director (Legal) at NTUitive Pte Ltd, the Innovation and Enterprise Company of Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

He is called to the Singapore Bar and has 20 years’ experience in both contentious and non-contentious IP matters. In his role as DD (Legal) at NTUitive, he is in charge of drafting and negotiating the legal terms of IP commercialisation contracts for NTU’s IP. He also provides advice on funding and investment agreements, shareholders agreements and research agreements.
